Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

An over view of what a general day would look like for me would include, on a Monday completing collage work with the Bmet provider, completing different modules like health and safety and electronics. then from Tuesday to Friday we work down stairs in the work shop. we work through many different rotations like hand fitting and fluid power.
When we move on to our second year next year we will start our rotations in the technologies.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my apprenticeship very much one reason for this is the range of interesting things that we take part in through out the year for example the extra activities that we have the opportunities to take part. the range of friendly people that are at the apprenticeship also helps to keep the apprenticeship enjoyable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a large amount of new skills since starting my apprenticeship in September, not only engineering skills like welding, hand fitting, and electrical skills. but I have also developed my life skills for example being prepared from the morning, I have also build on my communication skills through talking to management and sending emails.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I feel that the structure of the apprenticeship is well structured in BMWs part with our monthly meetings and our pay reviews every 6 months. As well as other things like our time tables for the structure of our years. Our Bmet structure is also structured well just not to the same standard as BMWs.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I get a lot of support from my employer with our monthly meetings and our pay reviews every 6 months. another thing that i like is how BMW have an open door policy allowing people to come and talk about any issues that they have at any time during the apprenticeship.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I feel like bmet support me to a decent standard, in terms of helping me to reach my qualification although there could be slightly better in some areas like the structure of lessons. the reviews that I have had with bmet i feel that they could be ran slightly better. but apart from this i feel that they help me in achieving my qualifications in all way like teaching and extra help if something hasn't been correctly understood.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that the qualification that we have been doing with BMET will help when i am out in the technology's doing my job role as the course has been pick carefully by BMW. the skills that i learn through my qualification will give me all of the required knowledge.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are a range of offered extra-curricular activities that bmw offer like the opportunity to go to different plants around the uk like hams hall plant. There is also a range of other activity's that are offered like how you can join the news letter team, or the charity team. these activity's that are offered help to improve connection in the business.

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?

Why?

I would recommend this apprenticeship to a friend as I feel that I enjoy all the parts of the apprenticeship. Another reason that i feel the apprenticeship is very good is that there are a lot of opportunities to take your career further in the business. The extra curriculum activity's add to the benefits of the apprenticeship.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?

Some advice i would offer to new applicants is to be keen and ensure that you don't miss out on anything, like information evenings. Some other advice i would give would to do your research finding out when the application process opens and the process of it so that you can ensure that you are prepared for all of it.
