Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work in tax and my role consists of carrying out admin processes which are key to a successful project and helping to produce client deliverables (writing reports to help clients understand their tax position when thinking about merging/acquiring a business).
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I'm really enjoying my programme so far! Each day offers a new challenge and a new opportunity to learn. Having not worked in a corporate environment, I didn't come in with many expectations but am loving the inclusive environment which EY has to offer!
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learnt several skills whilst working. A couple of the main ones would be my time management, both working and studying can be a bit of a step up, and building relationships; it's important being able to communicate with new people in a professional setting too.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

There's a plentiful number of support networks, the induction was fun and engaging, and even gave me the opportunity to go on my first business trip! EY has a culture of continuous learning and offers several avenues for this including lots of great training sessions throughout the week.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support, I have regular catch-ups with my team and manager. The buddy and counsellor/career coach programmes have allowed me settle in a lot quicker and raise any concerns as and when I have them.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The internal qualification team is an approachable team who is in regular contact and provides high levels of support if concerns about exams/college are raised. They are there to make sure each apprentice can fulfill their potential when it comes to their qualification and this does shine through.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As I work in Tax, some of my work differs to what I cover in my qualification however, there are principles which I am able to tie in from my qualification. The qualification also allows me to gain a broader understanding of the industry as a whole which is helpful.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are several activities organised throughout the year: team social events; regional networking events; 2 volunteering days a year; sports teams in some regions; cultural groups; as well as programmes which can induce self-growth for example, delivering speeches/presentations and getting involved with the organisation of regional/national events.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
It's important to not overlook a single part of the application process, preparation is key. Speak to people in the field, prepare for interview questions and for the online assessments and, most importantly, be yourself, have fun and get stuck in!
