Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves working on projects for financial services clients such as high street banks. I mainly work within the conduct risk solution area, conducting suitability reviews. I have other departmental responsibilities, and I am able to get involved with various teams across the department.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the programme to a large extent. The course is varied and I feel that the workload is manageable. The people at EY are friendly and there is an inclusive culture. I feel the degree I am working towards does not complement the work I do day to day.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many skills during my time at EY. There is a large amount of learning that you can complete to earn EY Badges and the firm has supported me with the apprenticeship programme by being very flexible with the study days which I can take each year.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very well organised, and there is a clear support structure within EY. I feel that managers within the firm do not fully understand the programme, and that they place unrealistic expectations on apprentices and this can cause pressure to build, and the workload to become unmanageable.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a large amount of support from my employer. I feel comfortable going to my counsellor with any issues regarding the programme, and my workplace mentor has always attended the progress review meetings when I have requested them to do so.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support from my training provider is excellent. My Coach is always available to speak with, and they are very understanding and empathetic. The module tutors are always happy to meet with you outside of lectures to discuss any concerns or issues that you may have.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I do not feel that the qualification aligns well with the role that I perform. The qualification is in relation to management and EY has not given me the opportunity to manage, whether that be an aspect of a project, or people.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are many extracurricular activities to get involved in, and since I joined the firm there has been around 4 paid for social events.

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I do feel that it is an interesting place to work, and I feel that there is a good culture at EY. I would not recommend EY if someone was looking for a competitive salary as I feel the salary is significantly below market average and we are undervalued.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Be yourself, and make sure that you do through research before applying to EY. There are many resources available for you to use on their website, and these will help you to discover where you best fit.
