Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My job involves preparing the house keeps schedules , checking ready rooms & auditing rooms cleaned that day. Amongst that I am responsible for health and safety tasks and dealing with general day to day activities. Checking in guests, answering telephone and email queries and supporting all team members whilst maintaining a professional and confident image.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
These modules are designed to be delivered in bite sized pieces. You learn new information , tips and skills without realising. I love knowing that I am expanding my knowledge around the industry. I have had amazing support and know that if I need help or advice, it’s always available.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Whilst I have worked my way through departments , I feel
I have a good all round knowledge of the business. That said, everyday is a learning curve and knowledge and skills grow subconsciously. My leadership and customer service skills I feel are the ones that have developed most but learning legislation is the one that stands out for me .

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I completely appreciate how the modules are divided. My trainer sets me a module to complete over a 4/5 week period , we then assess that module and when we’re both happy - I move to the next - I’m glad it’s set this way !
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Both my manager and especially my line manager have supported me so very much during this process. They have given me confidence when I had moments of doubt, and set me tasks which contribute to my course. I have also been given the opportunity that if I wish to visit other sites, that I can do so.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training advisor was promoted after 2/3 months of my course starting. This made me very nervous but she advised me that her replacement and my new support os compassionate, understanding and will push me , but in the right way. I can [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] say, she was totally correct and I wouldn’t have got this far without them ;)
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
100% ! This qualification is teaching me things that hadn’t crossed my mind - all the legislations surrounding hospitality industry , it taught me how to delegate and how to identify me strengths and weaknesses . I know how important it is to follow policies and procedures and why they are in place
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We have a social media group in place for our organisation - I have found that I am alot more confident in posting my thoughts and feelings and successes. I love that I have been given a role to be our charity champion and have spent a lot of time producing products we can sell or raffle to raise money for our chosen charity - I take huge pride in this !!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Whitbread plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Whitbread offers a safe an comfortable environment. It is passionate about its people and our customers are at the heart of everything we do. I am honoured to say that I have worked for the company for 14 years , and lobed most of it ! Sure I have off days, but the team around me are family , and always there - I know if I need support it’s there and if I want to progress , I can : nothings impossible
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
Be honest - not everyone applying has experience or hospitality knowledge , and that is fine ! I’d say you need to be passionate about this career - to give great customer service isn’t always a skill , it is a lifestyle - you have to be patient and understanding. I would say you have to want to be a housekeeper or a receptionist to succeed . If you don’t want to be there , it shows :/
