Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy the degree apprenticeship programme for a variety for a variety of reasons: the first being that it allows me to gain all important skills that will put me at an advantage in the years to come. I have also found it useful to be getting experience alongside my studies as they come hand in hand. It has surpassed all my expectations and have met great people on the way

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Currently studying towards level 4 CISI qualifications to then move on towards level 6 degree. Also have been greatly supported internally and have developed new skills like excel and factset. I have learnt so much about the banking industry and all its components as well as the functions of banks in the UK and global economy.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is definitely structured in a way that we may study and work as well as having a work life balance. There is plenty of support by UBS as well as the university. I have bi-weekly meetings with my manager so that I may get the most knowledge whilst working with my team.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is a lot of support at UBS that is incredibly accessible, from easy access to HR as well as being allocated a buddy within the team, an apprentice buddy and a buddy from a different team, we have been offered support for pretty much anything. People always seem happy to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
There is also a lot of support from the university of Exeter. We have regular meetings with allocated academic mentors which helps us on the qualifications side of the apprenticeships. Here they make sure that everything is manageable and that we are all ok and forward us any help or contacts that we may need.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualifications alongside my work has been crucial to understanding the purpose of the work that I do as well as understanding the industry as a whole. This knowledge has helped with day to day tasks like creating databases. Without this learning alongside I definitely believe that I would not understand as much as I do now.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We have many networking events in UBS that has been incredibly helpful especially for the apprentice as we are new to the industry. There is also a major encouragement to do volunteering as we have 2 days per year allocated solely to volunteering in various different activities like helping out our partner school, the Bridge Academy.
