Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My day to day role involves analysing internal and third party data to identify client opportunities whether that be growing existing business or identifying new client prospects that we can add to our platform. I also spend a lot of time working on the integration of our ETD business to the Cash business whilst also making an effort to continue learning about the product and our offering.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy my programme. I receive a lot of support and I am part of an amazing team who really do want to see me do well, and encourage me to do so. I am in an environment that encourages growth and challenge and I think that this is super important for an apprentice scheme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
My ability to identify and assess opportunities is definitely improving as my experience around analysing data sets grows - with this I have also improved on my excel skills and being able to work with large data sets.
As I learn and understand more about my business, I am finding more confidence within myself to have conversations with other colleagues and to be able to contribute more in discussions.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well structured. I am clear on what steps I need to take to progress with my apprenticeship and I know who I need to turn to for guidance if I ever am unsure on what I need to do. I have monthly check-ins with my skills coach from my learning provider to review progress and agree on next steps.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a lot of support from both my team, from our HR team and from management. I work in an environment where I feel comfortable enough to raise things that may be bothering me or to get help if I feel that I am struggling. It is very clear to the me that my employer wants me to succeed and this is reflected in the support I receive.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I speak with my training provider roughly every 6 weeks for a check in to discuss my progress and any concerns that I may have. I also am free to email my skills coach at any time and always get a virtually immediate response. I am very happy with the support I am receiving.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification introduced me to a lot of topics that I hadn't previously studied before and this allowed me to understand the wider financial services industry. Certain chapters, i.e. Equities, Portfolio Management and Fixed Income applied directly to my role / wider team and gave me the foundational knowledge that helped me understand a lot more of what was going on around me.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
When i first joined the scheme I was part of the ApprenticeNet Committee where I was co-chair - this was a committee that aimed to organise social and educational events for apprentices. I am also part of our Community Affairs team (volunteering for charities) and I also play in the UBS netball club with different women across the bank.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend UBS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think that the qualification itself has allowed me to grow as a person and as an employee, I feel like it has given me a lot of confidence and knowledge. The culture at UBS is something that I love about the firm, everyone supports each other and everyone is extremely kind-hearted and wants to see each other do well.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS?
I would suggest to research into what part of the bank you want to work for, whether that be on the client side in the Investment Bank or Wealth Management, or more of an operational / support role. I also think it is vital to just be yourself in the interview process and allow your personality to come through as for me, this was a key factor in what got me the role.
