Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a construction apprentice and rotate through different parts of property. So far i have worked with RHSE and I am currently working with commercial and capital delivery. My role involves working with the CMs in PAR/UPAR and closures shadowing them on their projects and also having my own to work on as part of the 5-20k programme. Once I have finished in this rotation I will move onto New Space, Refits and then contracts and finance.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am enjoying the programme very much. I feel that I am learning so much about construction and it has made me realise how much I like this part of the industry. I am also appreciate of everything that my colleagues have helped me with. They are really supportive and have even trusted me to manage my own projects.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I feel that my communication skills have developed as I have had to talk to many different people a lot older than me. Also when communicating with contractors, I feel like my skills have developed. I have also learnt new skills when working with excel which I didn't know how to use before I started my apprenticeship.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is very structured. There are teams that I will rotate in during the 2 years. I first started off doing 8 weeks with Risk and then move around construction in 6 monthly blocks. I am currently in Commercial and Capital Delivery and then rotate into New Space, Refits and finally Contracts and Finance. Along side this, I also take one day a week to work on my studying as during the whole apprenticeship, I am working towards getting my APM Qualification.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from everyone at the Co-op. Firstly by my line manager who always checks and asks if I need any support and also from the "big boss" of construction. I also receive support from the my mentor in my current rotation who I have weekly calls with to make sure I am hitting my goals, but who is also really supportive of my own projects.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have monthly calls with the training provider to go through what I have done. They give lots of notes and information to help and there is also extra calls to go through the notes too.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I believe the information that I learn through the training provider helps to give an explanation of what I am learning when at the Co-op and I can really see how they both match up.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are charity events that I have gotten involved in and ones that that are also coming up this year too. We also have something called the "Fun Squad" where they have done a quiz and extra activities.

Why?
I personally believe it is such an amazing place to work. The amount of things that I have experienced in such a small amount of time is really good and I feel like I have learnt so much already.
