Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
im a acare and support worker working in and around stoke on trent. i cover most of the city as well as northwich. i love my job as it allows me to gain job satisfaction. i help people daily who would not be able to carry out tasks on their own.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
i am due to complete my course with paragon skills and have enjoyed the process. the trainers have been fantastic as in total I have has three. they have made the experience so much easier to understand and I wouldn't have been able to do it without them. 10/10.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
ive been in care for the last 12 years and have found that you never stop learning. each person you meet has different preferences, likes and dislikes. many pieces of equipment used and training is excellent. you have to adapt to the individual and work in acordance to their careplan.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
my tutor has made the process really easy. bud was simple to use and the way it is laid out is simple and easy to understand. I'm lucky because i have all the technology required to do the work. not everyone has that so i would imagine it would be difficult for them to complete the course if they did not have a computer or laptop.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
the only thing i have needed from them has been copies of policies and procedures. also an undated copy of the complaints procedure. working in the community is different to working in a residential or nursing setting. my employer offered and organised the training for me so it was really good of them.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
their support has been key to me completing this course. I don't think I would have been able to do it without them as they made it so much easier to understand. I'm considering doing my level 3 diploma once i have finished my level 2, and that is down to them.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It has clarified a lot of what I already know and has helped me to learn new skills. it has helped me to have more confidence in what I am doing and knowing that I am great at my job. i feel i have a future in care that will last.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
no not really as we work in the community and are more about lone working. I have however done those kind of things in the past when working in a extra care environment. the community often had activities and events that we as carers would get involved in. it brought everyone together.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Paragon Skills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
it has been a fantastic opportunity and the people i have worked with have been an excellent support. i couldn't have wished for a better experience and am looking forward to finishing and hopefully doing my level 3 with paragon skills. i just need to enquire with my employer to see if i can do it.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Paragon Skills?
go for it! doing a course with paragon skills is fun, easy to follow and will give you a great qualification at the end of it. the tutors are fantastic and really supportive. I will definitely recommend them and cant wait for the next course to begin. wish me luck!
