Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Senior career in a private residential care home in Doncaster. It involves supporting individually over the age of 65 with daily tasks and encouraging and promoting their independence. Not only does it involve caring for physical needs but also their emotional social and educational needs as well. I administer medications as directed for each individual. Liase with outside organisations and other medical professionals.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I did enjoy completing my level 5. I felt mist of the units covered were relevant to the qualification which I was undertaking. However there were times in which i felt some of the tasks were very repetitive at the point in which different tasks crossed over between different units.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I feel that through completing my level 5 in health and social care, that the main area in which i have developed my skills is communication. This is both verbally and written (emails, record keeping and reporting). I feel it has strengthened by skill set needed in order to report accurately and effectivley.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I felt that considering I was undertaking my level 5 qualification during the out break of the covid pandemic which resulted in a full country lockdown that the company organised and structured the programme well despite having 5 different trainers over a 12 months and my training being delivered remotely.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Due to the covid outbreak and staffing levels it meant it was a struggle to find time around the extra hours which I was working in order to be able to complete the work set by my assessor. I just kept my employer up to date on the progress i was making and asked for their input as needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Due to having different assessors through out it was initially an issue. However the last training provider i was assigned to was very helpful. She was always reachable whether it be by email, phone call or my online portal message and responded in a timely manner and offered help to resolve any issues i was facing.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that as a result of completing my level 5 qualification through paragon skills i have greater knowledge and understanding of my role. I feel that I am also able to perform my job role more effectively and more efficiently as a result of competing the qualification with this training provider.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are no types of extra-cirricular activies for me to get involved with at my current place of work. I do feel that team building events may be beneficial to the team in which I am part of. I have been out socially with colleges from work although this was not organised by work

Why?
I feel that paragon skills training provider, despite everything which was happening regarding the covid pandemic, were able to support, encourage and guide me to complete my level 5 qualification to the best of my ability and within the allocated time frame. They were quick to respond to any questions i also had.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Paragon Skills?
To focus on the individual tasks as they are set and allocate time to complete it.
