I really enjoyed it. It was informative and straight to the point making it clear and concise. There’s a lot of topics I didn’t k or much about and after the week I knew everything I needed to know. I am now sure what career I want to go into and that doing it with BDO is my first choice.
To what extent did you enjoy your virtual experience?

I enjoyed it as much as I could. The thing I am most impressed with is that BDO still managed to make the work experience so helpful and enjoyable while having to do it online instead of in person like normally and I think that is great. They showed that they truly cared and wanted us to join them by the effort they put in with all the sessions an tasks
How well organised was your virtual experience?

I think it was very organised. Every session started on time and lasted the whole time and nothing was rushed and forgotten. Even during the technical issues that are inevitable online the programme still ran smoothly and people jumped in the cover the people who were having tech issues which was great.
How much did your virtual experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

I’m pretty much settled on audit now because of the virtual experience. I didn’t know what the different sectors were or the different qualifications but each session on each sector really broadened my knowledge and helped me result to the decision on want to career in audit next year.

No we wasn’t it wasn’t a work placement so we didn’t get paid.
Skills Development
What training and skills development did you learn from your virtual experience?

I learnt how to evaluate my self in terms of my strengths and weaknesses and why it is important to do that. I learnt the different between a weakness and an area of development then how to change one into the other. I also learnt how important it is to make sure your decision in what you do are inline with your core values so that your heart is behind what you do.

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

I learnt a lot about the company culture and that the culture is what many people go to BDO for and now I understand why. Everyone seems to feel involved and accepted for who they are. Many people work there said that they their work to social life balance is achieved almost all the time.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?

Yeh there was actually a section on the application we used to network with other candidates in the virtual experience. We had 3 minutes to talk a little with each person as a time. We also had sessions with a few employees at different levels to help us learn more about different careers and ask advice

Why?
I think it’s such an honest and accepting company who genuinely cares about its employees well being.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BDO?
Be open to all aspects of BDO because you never know what your interests might fall into.
