Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My apprenticeship is rotational so my role differes depending on what area of the business I am in, I have worked across a number of roles such as a Database Developer and an IT Consultant. I typically work on a number of projects learning from experienced members of the team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my program and have worked on many enjoyable projects in different teams and met lots of great people. I have a good amount of work that allows me to push myself and learn new skills, my team ar very understanding of the degree side of my role and study days.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes, I've learnt a lot of techical skills eg. Appian, PowerBi, JIRA, Confluence as well as other skills depending on my role in each department. I've developed a lot of 'soft' skills during my apprenticeship eg. confidence when presenting and in meetings, as well as how to manage stakeholders

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
I don't feel the program is very well organised, there has been quite a few issues along the way and the communication with work/uni isn't the best. The rotational aspect os the program doesn't work very well but if you find somewhere you want to be/stay it's okay.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
My team and manager are very supportive of my apprenticeship, they always offer to help where they can and make sure I'm getting enough time to complete my coursework/exams. I have a number of great mentors who help me with both uni/general work and any issues I may be facing.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The support from the uni is okay, the webinars are good but sometimes the coursework and deadlines can be a bit mismatched and level of the coursework/exams can be a completley different level of work which can be stressful. The communication isn't great from the university either but overall it's been okay!
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I definitley feel the degree/university side is well suited to my role, the work I do day-to-day compliments my university modules. I enjoy the modules and how varied they are. I like that we get to specialise at work and the university side of that is tailored to our day role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are lots of activities to get involved in and the company is very sociable! There is pretty much a club for anything you could want/think of eg. Ski trips, volunteering at schools/colleges, after work drinks etc... It's very easy to get involved and everyone is welcoming

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Overall I've had a great experience at KPMG. I've been able to get experience across a number of roles which has allowed me to develop a lot as a person especially my confidence. Once I've finished my apprenticeship I will be established in a role with a degree at a young age (with 4 years experience at KPMG)
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
I would register for any pre-application events to understand more about the apprenticeships and what would best suit you, and these events often give you the opportunity to speak to other apprentices. Then research the company and the role you're applying for so you know what KPMG are looking for and what you're talking about!
