Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
At work i move around all the departments in leathershop and learn about what each section does and what each section does to make sure all they produce is up to a high standard. i learn different processes in each section and this means i know how each section works and am able to do the basics.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
i enjoy the work side of my apprenticeship as it is very interesting to see all the processes and learn how to do different things. i like the course at college but feel its a bit badly structured as sometimes we are not told how to progress or told much feedback.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
i have developed my existing skills in sewing and textiles by seeing how different it is to sew leather and how the different materials added help change the structure of the finished product. i have learnt many new skills through my time so far as i have used machines and materials i never used before i have also worked on my abaility to work in a different environment to a shop.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
at work the organization is usually good as the trainers and managers know what the apprentices need to see and do and will help us experience everything. at college the structure isnt fully communicated and the oranization does seem to be lacking as we are told different things from different people or its really hard to find some information.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
we recieve a lot of support from work, if they think we need help or a little more time on something it is given. work are very patient and will always try and help us find the information we need to progress and achieve more in our work and college work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
so far we have not been given much support towards the qualifications. at college they dont seem too clear on what we need to do as they dont tell us clearly what we need to work on. a lot of the time we try to find out information we are left with confusion.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
i feel like learning about the greater upholstery business can help us at work as it helps us see different techniques that are used in the cars, also i think that having deadlines and different projects help us at work as it keeps our time management and focus fully competent.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
at work there are different charity events and activities like walks and fundraising ideas which are good to meet others, there are also a lot of different sports teams that ran before covid. also each year there is a family day where family anf friends can come and see the work we do.

if you apply here be ready to work hard and do a lot of work, be prepared to meet new people and learn new things and when you apply there are some online tests which has the smallest time limits ever, everyone struggles its not just you and also dont get swept in just by the name.
