Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role is to assist the Engineering department in getting contractors in to replace/change pieces of faulty/inefficient equipment. This role involves a lot of communication with clients and colleagues. On a day-to-day basis your mornings will be taken up with daily meetings. The afternoons are yours, whether you need to get some paperwork done or a contractor in or you spend the time contacting said contractors.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
From the start I was given responsibility, there was always someone to ask if you were stuck but the onus was on you to ask. I was responsible for contacting contractors and I was trusted to know/find out the answers to any questions they had. There's no wonder that PepsiCo is a Top Employer!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
My organisational and communication skills have improved tenfold. PepsiCo encourages networking throughout the company so communication is key. I have become more independent and I am trusted to use my initiative to solve problems that arise. I have learnt that each role has different skills and by utilising these skills the company runs better.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
The support and guidance from the whole team was incredible. There was always someone around willing to help you with a smile on their face. Everyday there was a departmental meeting to talk over problems and ask for help if needed as well as a weekly 1-on-1 with my line manager.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The entire team is friendly and opening. I'm at quite a small site and I'm the only placement student there but PepsiCo has gone out of their way to set up calls with other placement students. They have also set up a committee to organise charity events, socials, communications and learning & development throughout this years placement cohort.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
As a company PepsiCo was so welcoming and friendly, I have made many friends with other students on the placement scheme. On a whole my placement was less Engineering based than I would have liked but that is due to me being on a small site. I would definately go back to PepsiCo if a more Engineering based role was advertised.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PepsiCo to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to PepsiCo
In the group interview speak up and let your opinion be know but also listen to what others have to say. For me I had video questions, always smile and be open when doing these types of interviews. You're not allowed nuts, glass or gum onto the crisp sites so pack your bag carefully, and ask if you are unsure about what you can and can't bring.
