Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am an assistant on our audits meaning I work closely with clients, get involved in all kinds of testing to verify account balances. I am progressing to become more senior as time goes on.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy the people I work with and my cohort. The programme can be stressful and demanding as well as work, but its thoroughly rewarding.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
My excel skills have developed massively, plus project management skills. I had no experience of accounting prior to joining the programme but am now nearly AAT L4 qualified so have learned plenty here !

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Given I am the first cohort on my particular programme there are some issues that need to be ironed out. But on the whole, there is good learning and progression opportunities and the structure makes sense.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Lots! Everyone is very supportive of everyone, the fact I am an apprentice doesn't change the fact I am still part of a team. I also have a performance manager who checks in with me regularly.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Again, lots! I have calls regularly with them to talk through my progress. The actual advice I get is often limited though. The tutors I have had have all been supportive and avaialable for questions should I need this.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
There are plenty of benefits to doing the courses/exams I am, a lot of the content is very applicable to the job. Some things I hear of during my work but then don't fully understand until I study it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
This has been significantly limited due to most of my time at KPMG being virtual due to COVID19. This is no fault of anyone.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
Yes
Why?
There are plenty of opportunities to find what you want to do, plus lots of additional things to get involved in. You meet lots of like minded people and make real career progress all the time.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
Be confident but no arrogant! We want good people who stand out for the right reasons. You aren't expected to know anything, just be honest about that and ask for help. During interviews just show that you're the type of person we want to work with.
