Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
This role mainly involves due diligence checks in the first year. As well as generating statements for clients, opening and closing accounts, filling out forms and completing any other general requests that may be asked for.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I do generally enjoy my programme a lot. It can at times get hectic and very stressful, especially with managing the university workload but that was to be expected. I'd say there's a healthy working environment.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have definitely learnt many new skills. This role has forced me to manage my time more effectively, Be more organised in the way I track my tasks and just be more competent overall. I have also learnt a lot about the financial sector overall.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well organised. There is training at the start for apprentices and University workload slowly becomes more intense. I'd say there could be more space between exams and assignments.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is a lot of support available. You will be assigned one mentor for work and one for university. There is also a lot of mental health resources on both uni and work side. Generally, People are very happy for you to reach out to them for anything when necessary.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
There is also a lot of support here. Sometimes responses can be late or absent and the course tends to be really intense. Though your academic mentor is always reachable for advice.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
So far I have only been working for 8 months or so, however the qualifications definitely reinforce your knowledge and give you a better understanding of your role and the processes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes. As I joined in a pandemic I haven't been able to experience much of this but there are also a lot of online events or volunteering you can get involved in eg. at your secondary school.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend UBS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a very well established company with good morals and a good work ethic. They are very inclusive. My team are very supportive and this will definitely force you to be more competent. I would definitely recommend.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS?
I would advice that you show off your skillset (eg. team work, analytical communication) and have good examples to back this up. I would also advice to be confident and demonstrate your knowledge on UBS and finance overall.
