Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is to ensure that the main line keeps running so that we can keep producing cars. This can be from rolling out new software and monthly patches to fixing a robot . I take part in corrective and preventative maintenance to ensure nothing is going to fail in the future.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really do love the programme I am studying. the apprenticeship is well laid out and I have support in every place that i need it. This apprenticeship has made me realize that I love engineering and technology and especially working for Rolls-Royce, it doesn't get much better than that.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a lot of new skills during the first year of my apprenticeship, these include working with the IT-PEG department to tackle cyber security and ensure we do not get hacked. I have also just started to work with the maintenance engineers in the workshop part time with IT-PEG.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The apprenticeships here at Rolls-Royce/BMW group is very well laid out. The company know exactly what they want me to do and support me in every way to get me where I need to be. I study two days a week at university and 3 days a week in work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have two people who support me through my apprenticeship, the first being my apprentice manage who helps with anything to do with university and the general structure of my apprenticeship, and then I have my placement manager who i have monthly meetings with to ensure I am meeting my targets.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I have had one review throughout my first year at uni, it would be ideal to have one review t the end of the first semester and then one at the end of the second semester just so any initial concerns can be raised. the support from university is good but could be better.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I do feel like my qualification at university is helping me greatly with my current job role. I am learning all relevant information that will help me get my qualification. I have shown my direct manager my uni modules and we are working together to cover all of the points.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There isn't any activities at the moment due to COVID-19 restrictions, however usually there would be a short break at the start of the apprenticeship where all apprentices from BWW group meet and do team building activities. There is also regular days where family can come and visit the factory and ride in Rolls-Royces however this has been stopped due to COVID-19.

Yes
Why?
BMW group/ Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is a great company to work for, it is very professional whilst also remaining very relaxed. I feel like there is great opportunities for self development and I can see my self fitting in well here when my apprenticeship comes to an end in 2022.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
When you are applying they want to see examples of work you have completed similar to the type of job you are applying for. they want you to be motivated and driven for success whilst also being a team player and looking out for other people. It is important to be confident too.
