Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a level 4 apprentice I complete placements in various departments around the business. Currently I have spent time working in quality, process, analysis and metrology departments. My day to day tasks consist of supporting the associates working in the department hosting my placements while trying to learn as much as possible while on the job.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have thoroughly enjoyed my Level 4 apprenticeship, I have learnt lots which is enjoyable, i am given responsibilities within the business and therefore i feel I am able to work towards becoming a useful employee and therefore further my career which is an enjoyable part of my course in my opinion.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt and developed many skills while completing my apprenticeship. I have greatly increased my mechanical understanding and practical capability to build and work on assemblies. I have learnt data analytics, SQC, 6Sigma, control charts etc. I have also learnt visual inspection techniques. Another skill I have developed is problem solving and complex problem solving as well as learning how to develop solutions to the problems.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Th course I have completed on the whole has been well organized. My first 2 years were well planned out with workplace placements supplementing the course content from college. So far the HNC course I have undertaken has been well structured and my management has assisted in ensuring that my time is well occupied and I maximize the opportunities i have available to me while I am work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The employer has been very supportive of the career progression throughought my level 3 and the start of my level 4 apprenticeship. I feel as though I can get additional support were needed and that the management supports my progression and future career options as well as with guidance on how to achieve the goals I want to achieve.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Our training provider is generally supportive of helping us working towards our qualifications. Lessons are generally well structured and informative. Sometimes it would be good to have a little bit more support from the training provider outside of the day we spend at college, sometimes it is hard to find time for support within the working week.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My level 4 qualification includes managing an engineering project, designing an engineering solution, maths, science and 4 other units including 3D design. All of the units I have completed so far are beneficial to my career and provide me with skills that I can implement on a daily basis while carrying out my day to day tasks at work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are professional networking events that we can sign up for as part of our working week, 1 of which I have attended and it was beneficial in making some connections around the business who I normally would not have crossed paths with. I do connect with other employees outside of work for sporting activities such as mountain biking and there is a good culture with the staff that means that many are willing to take part in extra-curricular activities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I believe Rolls-Royce is a great opportunity for anyone looking to make there way into the automotive industry. The apprenticeship schemes allow the apprentice to travel around the business get a really good inside look at how the business functions and what goes into producing a world class product. The education we receive while employed as apprentices goes a long way to improve our skills individually and gives each apprentice an opportunity to challenge themselves and strive for perfection.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
Be honest, express your passion for the industry that you would want to work in. Express how and why Rolls-Royce Motor Cars would be a viable choice for yourself and how you would be a viable candidate for RRMC. Make sure that you are willing to start from the bottom and learn at every opportunity.
