Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Day to day I will begin various jobs to complete which will be there as once complete will help toward the running of production. I must go through these jobs accordingly making sure I finish them within the deadlines I am given then write up the process afterwards for my own memory.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the programme very much. The work I do is rewarding and different everyday and the team I do it with are very nice and allow me to ask for help comfortably if ever I need it. In this sense it met and exceeded my expectations each day is a learning day and I love this.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learned new and developed my existing hands on skills when it comes to stripping, cleaning and repairing parts of mechanical and electrical machinery. I have also learned new skills to do with hydraulics and fluid mechanics and also how to use precision machinery like a mill and a lathe amongst much other things.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is very well structured with a weekly routine that is stuck to quite well and allows me to know what I am getting myself into each day. The Bmet side of things happens on a Tuesdays and this is known by us and doesn't change which helps out hugely.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive plenty of support from my employer. My manager is contactable all the time and is very approachable. There are more than enough meetings in place though regardless so that should there ever be a problem there is always the opportunity to bring it up in the right way and get it solved.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider is also always approacable and always on site for me to ask questions to if ever that is what I do need to do. On top of this I am given an opportunity in my 3 monthly review which happens with my training provider where I am asked if there is anything they can help with.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification in the first year helped majorly as it allowed me to learn exactly what I needed to know and basic skills that I am now using out on plant. Without this training I would have struggled a lot more it also gave me confidence that I needed to help me out there.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are clubs such as the weekly newsletter, charity team and other external activities promoted by my workplace. some of which cover being able to go and climb mountains, outdoor experiences and even a charity skydive. There is also often more opportunities to be taken but due to covid plans changed.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a good apprenticeship with a secure feeling of a future ahead after you have finished. You learn plenty and allows for interesting days to go by instead of being bored. Making money whilst learning the skills and information you do feels wrong because its such a good opportunity.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
Be yourself and be confident would be my main tips. BMW can teach you what you need to know when it comes to mechanical and electrical engineering however your attitude is harder to change. If you come focused and wanting to learn then you will enjoy yourself and be in for an amazing opportunity.
