Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

The role: I create projects and users for internal and external clients. I also use different cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure to manage users and accounts and also create cloud infrastructure.
Day-to-day work involves attending any meetings and completing tasks for our main team and service rotations. You can also get involved in projects.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the fact that I get an opportunity to use and learn about different technologies and platforms. You do feel lucky to be working for such an established company at such a young age. Everyone treats you with respect and is eager to help you develop.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a wealth of knowledge during my time at KPMG. I have learnt about different programming languages and have learnt how to use different cloud platforms. I have also taken extra certifications. I have also learnt how to communicate in a professional environment and also soft skills such as presenting.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is very structured and everything was clear from the beginning in my experience, even though I have been working from home. Communication is great from work and the university.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Alot of support, I get study days to work on my assignments and extra time if I need to still work on them. At work, people of any role are always happy to help. In the lockdown environment they have emphasised mental health and wellbeing and are happy to support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
This may depend on the lecturers or modules but in my majority of modules support has been great. They're happy to help with assignments in and out of hours. They're happy to get on a call with you discuss things and content is clearly taught.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe there could be more of a connection between the content we learn in the degree and work. Learn the same programming languages or have more cloud computing based modules. However the core skills and behaviours needed for the apprenticeship fits into the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are tons of social events and networking events, from all levels and departments across the firm.

Why?
KPMG emphasises on gaining knowledge and developing you as much as possible, plus working in a professional environment is good experience. They also give you enough support and tools necessary to do well.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
Apply as early as possible. During the recruitment process try to demonstrate their core values, use these to prepare for your interview.
