Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
In my role I followed around the technicians on the lines for the first year on site and learn skills from them. I now can work on jobs on my own and for some with someone overlooking.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have some placements that are not fully relevant to my title (I understand it's learning as much as possible). Overall I am very happy with the program that I am in.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt some new skills and been able to develop a lot more other skills. Namely team working and communication skills from being able to work with multiple other people. I have also developed skills for using tools and equipment too.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It could do with some more polish, but overall the program is ran very well. There is a lack of communications in what is going on with us.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
With the mentor there is a lot of support and I can go see him whenever I need. With my manager there could be a little more. When receiving support the attitude is very positive.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The advisor from the college who overlooks our NVQ provides lots of support to help, at the college for the training there is not a lot of support and also a lack of some structure to it (for lvl 3 and lvl 4 qualifications).
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
For the first two years studying the lvl 3 qualifications, there was a lot more practical elements. These have been useful for certain jobs. However the lvl 4 is all theory and does not link up with what I do for my job title.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Every year there is a works walk that goes on, sadly it had to be cancelled last year, I hope to go this year or the next. We have our own gym on site too. I would like to see some more events happen with work (like sporting events).

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is an excellent way to start/boost your career as you gain a lot of knowledge along the training. There are also a lot of company benefits that come with working for them. One being a good pension scheme.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
You will need to be able to present a project of sorts that you have worked on or built yourself (or in a team). It is good to have done some sort of engineering before as can help you stand out more when applying. There are many opportunities in the company.
