Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My day to day role consists carrying out substantive and analytical procedures testing on certain balances within the financial statements. In this i test certain balances for the accuracy and completeness over these items to avoid overlooking any errors in the accounts. I often work as part of a team and assist other colleagues.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the experience and hands on nature of my work. i am able to implement my knowledge into practise and enhance my knowledge overall. I enjoy the ability to network with other colleagues from different offices all around the UK. to which i have built everlasting relationships. Working with elite is a bonus

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I HAVE LEARNT ALOT OF KNEW SKILLS such as excel formulating and analytical procedures. In this i was been able to learn how to add tabs, formulate cells, soft code balances to which i can reference to on my actual work. I have also learnt how edit multiple excel documents on 2 seperate screens by using my additional screen.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

i have had multiple issues with exam bookings, lateness in recieving exam materials. Lack of communication, not alot of assistant with issues and very laid back. I have to chase for updates ie i have tuition next week, to which i have had had no update behind my books and folders which should arrive atleast a week in advance
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive quite alot of support from my perfomance manager and my cohort team. BPP i have had a bit of support for my rotation into tax and i have had alot of support in the lead up for exams. I have had study days to help revise for my exams
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have received regular updates on my exam pathway. Clear dated structure for when i am due to sit my exams and when tuition is due to take place. I have been given coursebooks upon requests to help aid me in my exams in order to develop my knowledger further
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

i am able to approach tasks with a lot more knowledge and confidence as i was able to implement my knowledge into my work. I also felt aat was able to help manage my work life balance as i was able to enforce a good structure for my exams around work and making sure i was not over worked.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I am apart of the sports teams to which i signed up however was unable to play due to covid. I intend in taking part once lockdown clears. I also am a apart of the mental health awareness forum to help talk about stress and making people aware of triggers and warning signs

Why?
Great place to work and star your career. Able to excel your knowledge immensely and working with the elite. You are also able to work on a wide range of clients and widen your scope overall which inturn improves confidence in the working world. There are alot of oppourtunities which KPMG will help open for you.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
Work hard and try to not over think it too much. Be confident and comfortable. Make sure you do your own research into the area you wish to get into. Attend apprentice webinars and speak to apprentices to gain a real insight as to what the role intails. Make sure you attend open days and 1 day work experience days
