Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves learning some of the theory and practical part of our apprentice program. This will involve communicating with tutors and training consultants and colleagues. It also gives us responsibility in terms of deadline and target achievement. Everyday will add some of the new skills to my knowledge and we all normally enjoy the day to day activities.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoyed the program as it is making me a better skilled person overall. The colleagues working with me helped to understand different perspective on different approach when solving problems. Even though it is a fast paced program. it gives enough time for us to understand and explore in detail each subject. Practical aspect of the program most of the time replicate actual work scenario.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new things first year of our apprenticeship. Introduction to Lathe was a complete new experience which I thoroughly enjoyed. Now I can make some of the components for any machinery using lathe! We have been introduced to many tools that i never knew existed before. The improvements made part of my group leader activities gave me confidence to interact with senior management.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is well organised and steady paced. We have enough support from the tutors in finishing the course modules. There is a template how the whole program going to be which makes it more encouraging and supportive. We have regular review system which analyses the progress and identifies the issues if any.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

BMW as a parent company supported and helped. We regularly received communication and support for all our needs. It also helped us to understand the
high expectation. The visit from the Plant director shows the importance company put on apprentice program. It has been always clear what supports are available and when to ask for it.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The tutors are fantastic in helping us through the course. They are supportive and always ready to help. We normally get enough time and resources to complete the assignments and homework. The experience and helping attitude of the tutors makes it much more an interesting program. it is a pleasure to work and learn from such good mentors.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I strongly believe the course helps us to be a better skilled person in all respect.
It helped to experience the working knowledge of many new technologies. It also helped to improve our communication, leadership and organizational skills. Overall all the course helped me to become a better version of myself.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There were many opportunities to do extra-curricular activities like newsletter writing, hiking, charity work etc. Unfortunately, due to covid-19 situation and first year fast paced studied I haven't managed to participate in any of such events. But I am aware of the existence of it and will be apart in the future.

Why?
It is a world leader in technology and there is no limit in terms of achievement if you are a motivated person. Working in BMW can give you a global outlook and enhance your personality. Anyone should be proud to be a part of such a company in my opinion.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
It is a fantastic opportunity to work with BMW and you should take it if you have a choice. It will make you better person and will be great for your carrier. There are all sort of opportunities for male and female and it will be an amazing atmosphere working in such a global company.
