Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
It is split between client work and training so some weeks you'll have college and then 3-4 weeks later you'll have an exam.In reference to client work you may have to audit different sections of the clients accounts such as Sampling,Payroll,Cash etc and you may have client meetings also.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the team that I am in as everyone is quite nice and supportive and there is a nice culture. There are loads of networks/clubs/societies that you ca join which is really fun as you can meet new people with different experience levels.I also really enjoy the many mentorship programmes that they have to offer.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have learnt how to use Microsoft Excel better which has been reinforced with additional training.I have also learnt how Tax/VAT works which is quite interesting.I've also learnt what happens in an Audit and why the client has to do one and what it entails.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I think the structure is pretty good.Ilike that college is spread out and notcontinous as it is less stressful to deal with.It is organised fairly well as training and induction were conducted very well and the team heirarchy is very clear and what is expected of you is very clear also.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I have had 2 mentors so far which has not only helped me network but they have given me great advice. The HR Team is quick and effcient. My manager is great and really supportive and is always available for a quick chat which is nice. The are also things in place for mental wellbeing.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
They are effcient when you need to ask questions and tell them things however they could be better in terms of sending out learning materials as there have been delays in the past which did cause hinderance and disappointment and they also did not compensate for their mistake.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The qualification helps to understand the more technical side of the role and it helps to understand jargon terms and how to calculate things which ovbiousl very important and helpful when dealing with a clients data.I also feel like I understand the concept of accounting more than before i started.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are networks, societies, clubs etc such as hiking club, mental health network, african and carribean network, sports clubs, womens network and many events also. They have department sessions where you can get to know people and there are loads of volunteering oppurtunities to get involved with which is really fun!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a good oppurtunity to learn and develop new skills. It is great for your CV and you get the chance to work with clients from all around the UK.You also meet diefferent people so it's a great chance to network and start builiding connections from a young age.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
Do your research before joining so you can smash it in your interview. You also have to understand that you're not at the top straight away and that this is a company where working your way up does take time and patience so you have to ask yourself if you are ready for that commitment.
