Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to be on different audit jobs and perform the different standard requirements. 20% of my time at work is spent training, going to university and sitting my AAT And ACA exams.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love my programme. I have no debt and am going to university, taking exams and getting the same qualification as grads get. I also learn more doing the job than I would learn at university - and I get a salary!
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My communication skills have improved considerably since starting KPMG by networking with new people in my team and other apprentices. I also lesrn new skills every day about audit and how to perform an audit.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Extremely well organised. We have a system that shows us when all our college days are, when our exams are and when our written assessments are due. The company and BPP are always communicating so work and study is very integrated and we never have to worry.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Everything surrounding every element of the apprenticeship is supported. We have a team solely dedicated to our studies and qualifications who are always available to help us and give us additional support if needed. We also receive loads of support from our department regarding doing practical work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Quite a lot of support. There is a hub that has all our virtual classes, practice assessments and activities - which is everything we need to pass. We also get sent a course book which we annotate during class and a question bank to help us practice for exams
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The studying and questions in our exam directly link to our job. For example, my role is an “external auditor” and we have a whole exam on external audit. I have used everything I have studied for in my job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes! KPMG have a big cohort of apprentices every year (250 in the country including 60 in london). We have an induction where we get to know everyone, always meet up with other apprentices and there are always opportunities for socials within our department too.

Why?
It is an amazing firm for the people. It is extremely social and there are always opportunities to have fun outside of work. They are extremely supportive and understanding when we have to take time to study for exams. They treat us like normal employees in the work we get.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
- enjoy the recruitment process and don’t stress too much - if it’s meant to be you’ll be fine.
- make sure you look up KPMG values for interviews and understand their importance.
