Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

In FSF we work with composite materials such as Carbon Fibre and Fiberglass. These skills are then implemented into the aircraft maintenance role where we learn to repair damaged aircraft components or replace them.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I Enjoy waking up knowing that i get to practice in a working environment that provides great opportunities and learning experiences for me.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many skills varying from 'Hand Eye Coordination' to 'Workplace communications'.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It has been very well structured with a plan for all apprentices every step of the way. Support is easy to gain access to if needed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I Receive all the support i need and if i need support my employers have made me feel more than comfortable approaching them with any queries.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive all the support that i need in order to gain my qualification and should i need additional help it is easy to ask or gain access too.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I am very confident that after my apprenticeship ends i will be able to perform all the correct actions needed to work in that role. with the extra skills picked up along the way i am sure i can exceed expectations.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are plenty of extra curriculum such as test flights and opportunities to do modules based around health and safety or air legislation.

Why?
Its an apprenticeship that has opened gateways to many opportunities and due to the unique field of operations and skill required it is great for a CV. It is an enjoyable experience which makes me keen to learn and continue training.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
To make sure that you are applying not for the sake of it but with passion as its takes a lot of dedication and has proven to always bring new challenges and never becoming a boring experience.
