Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Take part in maintaining various aircraft that the company own, under the supervision of qualified engineers. Study for exams which contribute towards achieving an A- licence.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I think this programme has really benefited and helped me to achieve what I enjoy doing which is fixing things and developing my engineering knowledge, this programme has helped me to do that.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt loads during my apprenticeship such as hand skills to manufacture skin repairs and the like, studying for my exams which give you the knowledge to under how aircraft work and function.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is well organised as there is a structure for the year of where you will based and what you will be doing, which I think works really well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

As an apprentice I receive loads from my employer anything I am struggling with such as a placement or studying they are happy to help and support me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider is really supportive and gives me the right training I need to pass my exams and the right tools and equipment to give me the best training for my hand skills.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

When working on aircraft, i understand exactly what I am doing and what system I am working on and how this component affects the aircraft.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Every year there is an apprentice forum where all the different apprentices get together and discuss and show what they’ve been up to. This is really beneficial to see what other apprentices have been doing across the business.

Why?
I would recommend this apprenticeship as it teaches you so much and provides you with everything you need to succeed and achieve your A license. The management at BA are always happy to help and support you with whatever you need.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
Just be yourself and it’s helpful to have an interest in either fixing things or aircraft or both.
