Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Depending on the placement that i am in depends on the role that I am doing. However, I am there to learn about the different areas that I am put in and help out with projects. Every Thursday I have college where I learn more about subjects like mechanical principles, and the right way of communicating.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I really enjoy the programme; especially when I am learning something new or seeing something for the first time. The work can sometimes be hard but it is usually made up with how fun the work can be.
For example seeing the presses running for the first time is like witchcraft.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many new skills at work and I have developed my communication skills significantly. I have also built up the courage to walk up start the conversation. I used to find this hard. I have learnt a lot about time management both for my own work as well as for a works project.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The placements that I have are on a three month rotation so every three months I change placements so I can experience different areas of the plant. This is is well organised with an excel document telling everyone where they shall be and when they will be changing. Meetings are made so nobody is confused.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer is always there to give me some support especially with the situation that we have been through. If there are any issues with college they are there to sort it out, and it is only ever a misunderstanding. They put your needs first like your health and wellbeing.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
With online learning I haven't gotten as much support as wanted to receive from my training provider but this is not all their fault. However, since going back to college we have received nearly all the support we could; with lectures even videoing the lessons so that we can re-watch the lessons at home.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
To start of with I struggled to find the link of some of my qualifications however the further I go into the workplace the more it I used. Especially the project work in certain placements. I feel as if I know more about my job and industry thanks to my training provider.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are extra- curricular activities to get involved in at work however most of these have stopped/postponed due to the pandemic. Some examples include the mountain challenge, tree planting and there is a lot of charitable opportunities. In the first year one of the biggest parts is Skern lodge.
