Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am an EY auditor, working with different audit teams in different clients . I audit accounts which end up on the client's financial statements and make sure that they give a true and fair view of the business.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Sometimes there are long working hours - but it is part of the job and the teams help me a lot, especially since it is my first year. Even though it get hard sometimes, the audit teams helps each other and me with the work we need to do.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
My soft skills have increased in terms of connecting with people from different backgrounds, my communication skills in terms of emails and presentation has also gotten better.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme in terms of content is pretty well structured;however, the HR team haven't told us everything from the get go and some things I learnt from other apprentices instead.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A lot of stuff is at offer from my employer - I also have a counselor which I can talk to from time to time if I feel like I need to. I also have a buddy to talk, as well as EY staff benefits as well.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
They have amazing tutors that really help during the course days, the website is really good as well in terms of practice tests and learning. The support is there for students, but you have to reach out yourself.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It helps me to understand my field more before delving right into a job and not really understanding my role, it makes me understand why I am fulfilling my roles and what is the purpose of my job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, there are extra-curricular activities that my firm offers, unfortunately, as I am working from home, we are unable to do any of the sport activities etc. As part of the audit team, we do doo weekly quizzes to try and keep the morale up!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a place where there is tons of support on the team, especially with a high pressure and heavily regulated industry such as auditing. Having the support of the peers and firm is really important, and EY offers that!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Be hopeful! When I was applying I got rejected at first but then I got an email saying that I was allowed to go on. So, there is always a chance! Don't think about what the best answer is, think about how you would answer a question.
