2.8/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I clean and analyse data to derive insights that aid the business in reaching their goals. I liaise with internal stakeholders to inform decision making.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I generally enjoy it. Some of the course material seems irrelevant and/or out of date and tutors can be hard to get hold of when I need to ask a question. EY have been very supportive, making sure the work is relevant to the course module where possible.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt technical skills such as Python, Pandas, NumPy and Jupyter Labs. I've also learnt soft skills such as efficient and effective teamworking and good leadership.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Fairly well structured. Sometimes it seemed like their weren't the resources available to give me the support and learning I needed to be able to contribute to the team which was frustrating.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
It varies from team to team. Some teams are very supportive and others I had to fight to be able to get exposure to technology needed to complete assignments.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Some support. Tutors are not always available to answer questions when I felt they should be. Some tutors do not reply to emails at all.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
It is mostly irrelevant to my role as the learning is out of date/not current enough to be useful.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are plenty of network events and socials for example netball teams, after-work drinks and talks from subject matter experts.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The experience I have had has been overwhelmingly positive and I feel like I am in a better position coming to the end of my degree than my peers who only went to university.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Do plenty of research before hand to know what working at the Big 4 firms are really like.
