Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am working currently as a front-end developer but have been in various roles. I add or change the software we create to meet client needs. This involves coding and problem-solving skills in order to complete the work to a high standard. My work is then tested before releasing this to clients.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am enjoying the programme a lot as I am able to be involved in various roles and have experience doing a variety of work. The culture within my team because of my colleagues, is great and allows me to enjoy working. I do enjoy that I can study as well as work and have some time for this.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

i have developed my technical skills as well as communication. If I am struggling or there is an issue I should solve but am unsure about, I need to speak out. I have developed my research skills as I can perform research to find relevant solutions or ideas online, especially while working at home.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

there is structure and the short-term structure is more clear. After the programme ends in a few years there may be changes however I feel we are working towards a good outcome and we are able to voice our opinion on roles we may want to be involved in while we complete the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I am happy with the counselling that employees receive and I am receiving this. I do think that I can raise any issues with some colleagues and they can support me. I do appreciate the study time very much and this allows me to be able to complete and progress with my programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I appreciate my skills coach who has is reachable and does schedule calls every few months. They are useful in order to understand what is required to progress with my qualifications and are able to support us if there are issues with various teams/members in the training provider. Feedback is encouraged and I think this allows them to help better the programme.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification allows us to learn about modules and topics and then apply this to our organisation. This means that the skills we learn in the programme can be sometimes directly linked to work we are performing or can help us understand our organisation's approach on the topic. Some topics may not be directly linked.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there are more increasingly virtual socials and there are programmes that the organisation partake in including hosting students from colleges and charity work which is something I try to be involved in. There is usually a December party event where a lot of employees are invited however the smaller team does have socials more regularly when possible.

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The culture in especially my team is great as there is a people philosophy that the employees are what bring value to the company. The programmes and opportunities that are available are great and networks help employees to understand their similarities and differences too. There are graduate roles which can be a starting point.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Show that you have done some research before an interview and prepare. It is great to showcase that you can come up with ideas and are able to get along with others. It would be good if there is interest in finance and the accounting firms however a small team can be focused on other work including technology.
