Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Audit senior, providing coaching to junior members of staff as well as running of audits both year-end, half year and agreed upon procedures. This includes speaking with clients, performing calculations for materiality, performing planning procedures and performing audit on financial statements.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I do enjoy my Programme, however find sometimes the stress of work deadlines along side exams, apprenticeship work and other admin can be overwhelming and hard to manage. Although I feel that in future I will be grateful that this experience helped me to develop skills to address these issues.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, since starting the apprenticeship I have developed an in depth knowledge of financial statements and accounting concepts as well as a rounded knowledge of the business environment and how many businesses operate. I have developed many new skills including team work and coaching.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is very well organized and we are given a list of people to contact for issues as well as being assigned an apprenticeship coach who can offer help and support. I am also a leader in the peer group which when I started the apprenticeship assisted a lot.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A lot of support is available in respect of exams and apprenticeship work. However, occasionally it can feel that with the stress of work deadlines the relevant support is not always available.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

A lot of support is received from Kaplan, they provide multiple points of contact for any issues that you may have. Also, when the college centers are open you are free to walk in and speak with a tutor at any time.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification gives a lot of information in relation to up to date accounting policies and procedures and this can massively benefit the work we do on a day to day business. The content learnt as part of the qualification is used daily.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there are a number of social groups that you can become a member of e.g. EY Womens Network as well as a number of sports teams and networking events organized regularly.

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I believe EY is a good place to work and although there can be periods of stress I believe this helps to improve and develop so many useful skills such as time management and team work. I believe the experience I am gaining here would be hard to be beaten.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
The tips I would give is to be yourself and also only apply if you have a genuine interest in the role you are applying for. It is hard work but rewarding and if you do not have an interest this will effect motivation.
