The Overall Rating is the average of all the ratings given in each category. We take those individual ratings and combine them into one final score!

4/5 - Skills Development
3.4/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Review of client's financial statements prior to publishing. Inspect various areas of the statements and perform audit procedures to gain assurance over the data within.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
As the work I do varies on a weekly basis and I meet a wide range of different people, I would say I enjoy my work very much. I am someone who enjoys a challenge and I like exploring new areas of work I haven't in the past.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Develop a range of skills including:
- Adaptation
- Prioritisation
- Time Management
- Communication
- Team Working
Also improve technical skills through daily use of Excel/Word/Various internal analytics software etc.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The structure of my programme is clearly communicated to us so there is no room for confusion. I believe the support we receive is extensive and we are constantly asked how we are progressing/if we have any concerns.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Support for the work side of the job (as opposed to studying) is extensive and I have never found myself frustrated or feeling like I have not received adequate support. The company tries to be as supportive as possible in both expected and unforeseen circumstances.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Extensive support from the employer on paper, however in practice this sometimes varies. During busier times of work (as the entire last year has been) it feels like the company expects studies to take a back seat regardless of how fast approaching an exam is.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Some parts of the qualification definitely improve how I work in my role however some parts seem irrelevant at the moment. For example, tax studies don't factor into my daily audit work as much as the audit studies. They do increase knowledge of the industry as a whole though.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Personally, I don't participate in many extra curricular activities outside of our own departmental social gatherings however I am aware that there is an extensive list of events constantly happening. This is due to personal choice, not influenced by any other factors.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I believe that if someone has the ability to withstand pressure and manage time effectively, the company, role and post qualification opportunities can be quite rewarding. If not, then regardless - the prospect of the ACA qualification should be enough incentive to at least warrant consideration.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Be yourself. Don't try and think about what the company wants you to say, they value individuality. Also, experience can sometimes be meaningless without other skills to support it. Try to communicate your adaptability as no doubt, you'll experience a lot of new situations/environments at EY.
