Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is to fix and maintain all aircrafts that come to the hangars. I have to carry out different tasks and roles either individually or with my apprentices. I also have to attend all meetings when required too. I also have to complete all my modules and work at home to achieve all of my requirements within the apprenticeship
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme and thoroughly enjoy my job. Everyday is different, no two days are the same, when you go to work you never know what to expect, what jobs are needed to be done or what aircrafts are in the hangar. It is an exciting job because everyday I'm working on a different task and a different aircraft. I love that everyday I am learning something new as there as so many components to learn and repair on an aircraft

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed new skills such as hand skills, competency and problem solving. I have also adapted to working in time pressure and working in a team. I have gained many skills such as changing the hydraulic actuator on the thrust reversers.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is very well organised, every event, every module, and every remedial is planned well and we are informed with enough time to organise ourselves. the first year was very organised as we have to move out to Cotswold, we had to live in houses with housemates and catch a bus to Resource Group and everyday it was all organised and on time. Now we are at Heathrow Airport, it is all well planned with each apprentice on shift, 4 on and 4 off.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a large amount of support from British Airways and all of the employees within British Airways, such as LAEs, shift managers, security and my other apprentices on my cohort and even from other cohorts. If I have a problem or I need guidance then I am alway given the support and respect that I am required
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive large amounts of support when it comes to exams, remedial, essays and online portals at home. Our team members prepare our exams in a very organised way and give us access to the books in the right time frame and they give us the right remedials to attend and the correct research websites
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My training provided by resource group helps me to develop my hand skills and knowledge when carrying out my exams. At resource group we worked on a live aircraft and that helped me to perform and develop skills that I can now put onto British Airways' aircrafts at Heathrow
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there is FlyingStart, Apprentice Forum, and other meetings such as help towards other cohorts. FlyingStart is a big extra-curricular that allows me to work closey with the charity and raise money within the company
