Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
We see aircraft every few days for regular checks including fixing defects that have been found on the aircraft and carrying out the routine maintenance required to keep all the aircraft safe and flying. We have different areas with different aircraft and get to experience daily work and casualty work
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have thoroughly enjoyed my programme even throughout the pandemic we were kept engaged and always in contact with the company and our managers to give us peace of mind and to keep our mental health in check. There is a lot of support which is really good and makes the work and the day a lot easier

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed so many skills including my social skills which has gained me so much confidence I am happy to complete some tasks on my own and am confident in how to go about starting a job including where to look for manuals and finding parts and using the stores. I have developed a wide range of hand skills as well as electrical skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme has a very clear structure that is put across very well before starting which gives the best possible planning situation to make the programme easier. Even throughout the pandemic our management team were so helpful ensuring we had a structure and had work to do that would keep improving our skills and help complete our apprenticeship on time
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support not only from our management team but from around the company and everyone is very supportive of apprentices as we are the future of the company. Throughout the pandemic we had regular meetings and check ins to make sure everyone was ok and we were always being told about any advances being made
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
We recieved a lot of support from our training provider including regular check ins and we were kept up to date at all times and our work was marked promptly with helpful feedback to improve. Also they were helpful when we had questions as the programme cam be quite intense but they were really good with supporting us throughout.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Our training provider is very specialised so all the staff are former engineers with years of experience in both military and commercial environments which is so good for answering questions and teaching us how to be better in the role we are performing in and helps us achieve the highest standards and be the best we can be.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of opportunities for things like forums and events taking part in the company that we can get involved in and apprentices are always welcome as we are fresh eyes into the company and can inspire young people to get involved and apply for apprenticeships and get involved in the company in the future.
