Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I help to promote job opportunities as well as graduate and apprenticeship opportunities for British Airways. I help promote the companies’ work experience program and give my experience of it. I help out at events that promote all of these. I also sometimes help fundraising with British Airways for their charity, Flying Start, such as for Red Nose Day.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Very much. The programme offers great opportunities to meet new people and develop skills that make me more employable, with British Airways, or other companies. Also, I am given insight into the company and help develop my passion for aviation. The programme gives you information on the companies vacancies to apply to which is also useful.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed skills of public speaking which is useful for the events that I help out at. Also, I have developed team work and communication skills as we are all a big team and these two skills are key. I have become more proactive with what I do as I am keeping on top of communications from the company

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very organised. We have easy communication with each other which allows our work to be done easily and effectively. Events are organised well, so we all know what we are doing. Also, there was a good introduction to our programme which helped us prepare for the role that we do.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A lot of support. We get given support on writing CVs, how to be more employable and also what companies look for in good employees. I would say they are very supportive as also they are open to us for any questions that we may have on the company itself, or other questions on how to gain more employability skills.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
A lot of support. They help and guide us. They helped us to gain skills such as public speaking and being confident when doing so, as well as being organised and proactive in the role. This training was key to the role that I carry out and was done well by the company.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I would say that the qualification from the training provider set me up with the skills I need to fulfill my role and so perform it better. Before training, I was not so confident, but now I am much more confident which means that I am able to perform better in my role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
The company tries to get us involved as much as possible in events as this helps to build relationships with other people in the same role as mine. There is not as much as there could be, however it is something that the company is always working towards to help us build connections to other people.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend British Airways to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The company is very supportive of me, and has helped to give me skills that I otherwise wouldn’t have. There is continual support to help me be more employable to future employers. Also, they are open to me if I ever have any questions or support with something, whether that be to do with the company itself or my future career possibilities.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
I would say that you should make sure you have a real interest in the company and show that when applying to them. I also think that you should definitely apply if it is something you are interested in as British Airways provide a range of amazing opportunity in various roles.
