Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Inspiring students to participate in work experience programs and graduate schemes. On a working day I may be going to a school to present a presentation about becoming a pilot for British airways, joining a work experience programme or an apprenticeship scheme. The role varies from day to day, but is always very interesting
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love my programme and I enjoy every day that I get to do an activity or a presentation. It’s inspiring not just for the students but for me too to see how I’ve affected peoples life’s and made them realise what they want to do in the future.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’ve definitely developed my customer service experience a lot. Talking with students from all different backgrounds is very insightful and finding out what different career paths they want to take is inspiring, this has also helped me to develop my communication skills a lot, I also have a lot more confidence now with public speaking.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme structure and organisation is brilliant, being run by one person we always get told what events are up for grabs and where student ambassadors are needed. We also get to know all of our other colleges which makes for a very friendly working environment, we also have fun while we are working.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I get lots of support offered to me, there’s workshops we can participate in to help with our cv writing skills or our interview skills. We also get lots of training on customer service and public speaking skills, although it would be nice to have more regular training maybe once a year
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Some support Is given to us while we each work towards our various qualifications, we aren’t working towards one single qualification through British Airways, but we all are students meaning we participate in lots of different exams and qualifications. We get some support in the form of not feeling pressured into doing events if we have study instead.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualifications we are working towards helps us to preform better in our roles as it makes us more well rounded people and able to progress with our futures, weather that be university, apprenticeship with BA or getting a full time job. We also get lots of information about programs that we might like to apply for
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
The working environment that we have and the friendliness that we have with each other makes us all get along very well, we try to all do stuff together, such as walking together (virtually) for Red Nose Day, or doing fundraising events together. We also get a lot of opportunities to network with other colleges across the airline

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend British Airways to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They are the flagship airline of the UK and provide and exceptional service all round, they take pride in their products and always have clean aircraft. When your in the sky safety is never cut short and there’s always smiling crew around you to help with any queries you may have.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
Be yourself in the interview process. Enjoy the day and smile when your being interviewed, remember your being watched as soon as you walk through the door and a friendly smile is always a nice touch. In the group exercises don’t dominate the room but make sure everyone is involved, at the same time don’t be the quiet one who isn’t saying anything.
