Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I have to go meet people (clients) and perform an audit on their financial statements, my job requires a lot of travel and staying away from home which i really enjoy. I have to coordinate with seniors all work that I have performed daily. My clients have been RBS and Hitachi which are quite big clients to work on
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I really enjoy meeting new people so this job was perfect for me as I have met multiple people through this new job. I studied accounting in college so knew this is what I wanted to go into, this job has also helped me improve my confidence to speak to new people.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
2/5
I have learnt a lot of different skills, the main skills are time management and being organised. This I feel has improved my life as before I wasn't as organised. I also really enjoyed learning about audit as this is what I have wanted to do since the age of 14/15.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I have received a lot of different support from many other people, there are continuous emails about my programme and my exams. If i have any questions about anything I have my counsellor who I can ask anytime. All of my seniors help me no matter their job role as it seems that everyone is treated the same.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My manager and HR team are great, they are very quick to reply to any emails and try their best to solve any issues. I work with my manager on client site very closely so have no issues in obtaining help from him in any case. They are always willing to help me anytime I ask them which shows that the culture around the team is great.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I have really enjoyed my qualification so far as I have got to learn a lot about the world of audit. EY has really helped me gain a great exposure into what I have wanted to do for quite a while. My tutor is very helpful anytime I want to speak to her.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
My first week of EY was at college so this helped me gain knowledge over what sort of tasks I will be doing. The week after that there was also a training in London which we had to attend which gave us an insight into the world of audit, this was great.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are quite a few extra-curricular activities but i choose not to get involved. There have however not been any sports teams like cricket or badminton which i would love to get involved in. There are some socials though which I do attend from time to time, which is a great chance to meet new people in the firm

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
EY is very professional and very reputed as it is obviously part of the Big 4 accounting firms. EY has given me that chance that I needed to get my career started. Even if you haven't studied accounting I feel EY will still teach you everything required to be an auditor or any other field you would like to go into at EY.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
I think the explanation of the application process was great because I always received continuous emails keeping me up-to-date regarding my application. There were competency based questions, telephone interview, assessment centre and then there was a partner interview. The process was quite long but it's good because EY wants to make sure that you are the one that they want.
