Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves helping my team prepare our clients tax returns for them. I prep the return with the information that comes from the client. Firstly, I review the info to see if everything that me need has been provided. Then I make a start inputting the data and calculating the tax that is required to be paid. Then, I send it off to my senior to review and then the completed return will be sent to the client.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the program. It might throw you in the deep end at the start but I believe that this is why I have leant so much in a short period of time. The balance between the studying and working is also very good. You never feel like you have to much to do.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have really enjoyed developing a lot of skills. I have learnt a lot about time management, not necessarily being on time, but working within a tight time frame and coping with the pressures that this brings. I have found it hard at times but feel that coping under pressure and time management are two skills that I have really learnt about. From playing a lot of sport I feel I had a good level of teamwork, but meeting and working with new people, I have found that my teamworking abilities have also imporved.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

In the above question I mentioned that the process is very well laid out. It is very clear and you know exactly what you are doing and when you are doing them. They come at convenient times for you as well, when you are less busy and have more time to study.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Everyone at EY is very supportive. When you join you have a 'buddy' that will talk you through the first stages in your first week or so. You have a councilor that you know that you can talk to about any problems you have at work. So you feel that you have many people you can talk to and ask for help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive courses for all of the exams that I am sitting. This is really helpful as trying to teach everything yourself would be almost impossible. You then have revision sessions that are very helpful to consolidate your knowledge. All of this is in preparation for your exams. They genuinely want you to pass.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that Tolley help a lot with the performance of my job. It increases my knowledge on subjects that we may not see at work on a day to day basis and therefore when it does come up on the odd occasion at work I will know what is going on and hw to deal with it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are lots of extra curricular activities at work. There are lots of sports teams to get involved in, a lot of meet ups for social groups. I have spoke to a lot of people who say they enjoy this as it gives them a chance to de stress and enjoy doing something they like but with the people that they work with.

Why?
It is a very flexible company, especially in these COVID times they try and accommodate everyone's needs as they know that a lot of people are struggling. Everyone is very supportive and you know that everyone around you, you can ask for help and support when needed. There are lots of options at EY, which they encourage you to explore during your time there.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Be yourself and don't lie about anything.
Make sure to show all of your qualities and EXPLAIN why you have them, so people can see why you have such qualities.
Be confident and proud of your application.
Make sure you squeeze everything out of the application but don't go to far and show off.
Practice for any tests that you get and be confident when you do them.
