Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I report to senior engineers who delegate me a task and a supervisor.
I will then collect relevant documentation and tooling required, set up my work area and make a start following instructions.
In free periods I will complete NVQ work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Thoroughly enjoy my programme. It is both relaxing and challenging at times!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt new skills and developed existing skills.
My general hand skills have improved considerably using new tools and equipment and familiarising myself with them through repetitive use.
My ability to gather information and computer skills have also improved considerably.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The initial structure was brilliant and straight forward.
However, since the corona virus pandemic it has became a little all over the place, but nothing that I can not manage.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive full report from my employer and would feel really confident approaching them with both work and personal problems!
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
We are provided face to face training (or zoom training) which is delivered really well.
In terms of support, it could be better, I don’t feel as comfortable approaching senior staff at training provider as I would with the employer.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel my qualification is vastly improving my knowledge towards the role I work.
I am able to understand systems and processes far better than when I first joined the company!
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I believe there is but again with corona virus these are very limited at the moment.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend British Airways to a friend?
Yes
Why?
British Airways is a great institution to work and very welcoming from not even day 1, from your first face to face interview.
The engineers are very knowledgeable in their role and are very happy to support apprentices and share their knowledge!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
Be yourself, provide as much information as possible and really sell yourself as the correct candidate for the roll!
In short terms, give yourself the best chance you can!
