Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
Provide tax advice to high net worth individuals. Admin associated with consulting services
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The team I work on is good and helpful when I have questions. The company culture is good and I enjoy working there.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I am working towards a Level 4 ATT qualification. I have also received a number of internal trainings on tax technical points.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Programmed is poorly structured. There has been a lot of last minute changes and for the most part communication has been poor. There is also a large workload burden on top of your actual job.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
My line manager has been very good in offering support to me and others on my program. I have had very little communication from the the central apprenticeship team
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
The training provider BPP offers very little support. They host quarterly meetings with the student and their line manager but these are not very useful and seem to be the same conversation on every call
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification training that is provided by Tolley's has been very useful for my job. It has allowed me to learn in more depth about the work I am completing. It has also been very relevant for the job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
No

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
No
Why?
Salary is not competitive when joining as an apprentice and you will be expected to do the same amount of work for a lot less money than other people on the same level. There are better opportunities in terms of progression at other firms, the workload is not evenly spread.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Research the company before joining/having interviews. Get involved with the group tasks and try to take a leading role.
