Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am part of the capital allowances team, located in london but working with team members all around the country. Day to day, i usually start with checking emails, then perhaps analysing some cost information, such as a contract sum analysis, and then working on reports, usually for multiple clients.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
i enjoy this apprenticeship programme very much and certainly am glad that i chose to do this rather than go to university. i still have a social life, have made many great friends and connections, and also have a stable salary to be able to both save for my future and enjoy the present.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have definitely learned many skills, the main skills being time keeping and self management, being disciplined and organised, making sure i stay on top of all tasks that i need to do. i have also developed leadership and am encouraged to take an active role to always try and strive to do this.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
from my perspective, the programme is structured very well. we have regular training sessions, with a variety of internal teams. sometimes it is tricky to juggle exams among chargeable client work, but at EY i feel supported during the exam periods, and i know that my team understands and respects this.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
At EY we have a pleasant culture of putting mental health first. we openly discuss as a team when anyone is struggling, there are numerous internal and external events and webcasts to join to develop and improve mental well-being, and we have access to sources to help support us at all times
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
i think that the support received from Kaplan is unbeatable. the tutors are extremely supportive and are accessible what feels like to be 24/7. the online sources are great, there is a vast variety of places to find knowledge and try to get over the hurdle that is passing an exam
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
at the beginning i wasn’t too sure how much my qualification would help, but now that i have sat and passed over a quarter of my exams, working has definitely become simpler and i feel confident speaking up when discussing more complicated or technical topics, and am excited to see how much more i can learn
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
one of the key factors that swung me over when deciding which apprenticeship programme to accept was the vast variety of networks available at EY. i have played football here, take part in eco innocator events and regularly try to attend Unity webcasts - this is our LGBT network here at EY

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
There is an infinite amount of reasons why i would recommend EY to anyone. The people here are all so friendly yet professional, the opportunities available to all are fantastic for both a personal and professional career boost, and as an employee, i feel valued and appreciated which has such a huge impact day to day.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
i think this most likely depends on the role and level at which they are applying, but generally i think just research the company and have a few projects you have heard about up your sleeves, ready to discuss, and also go in remembering that usually we work as a team, and are looking for team players
