Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
To help in the audit of my client's financial statements. This involves communicating with the client and completing mostly administrative tasks in a number of areas.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
To a reasonable extent. Because of the circumstances, I've not experienced much human interaction or social activity with my colleagues. I have enjoyed learning new skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have improved my flexibility, time management and technical skills; I have become much more effective at using Microsoft Excel.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The program is well organised. I have a helpful apprenticeship coach should I be confused about anything and the structure of the course has been made explicit and has been well explained.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
A reasonable amount. I feel fairly confident that if I were to reach out to a senior member of staff I would receive a good level of support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
A good amount. The tutors are very helpful and do a great job of making online lessons as interactive and engaging as they can be. They make it clear that they will be available should a student need them.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Quite well. After my accounting course I understood much more about financial statements and cash flows which I could apply somewhat.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
Other than team events, not that I am aware of. It's difficult to set up events in these conditions but I would imagine after lockdown there will be more opportunities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Friendly employees who make sure you settle in well. You pick up quite a lot of experience and knowledge quickly.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Arrive at the assessment day with a positive mindset and be yourself. Be friendly to those around you and try and enjoy the day.
The partner interviews are quite relaxed and are more discussion based, as opposed to an interrogation. Just be prepared and show that you're motivated.
