Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role involves working within financial services Audit. Within this role I audit various sizes of companies ranging from large multinationals to smaller and medium sized firms. Day to day work differs depending on the client as well as the audit engagement goal for that time period. I have worked on cash, investments and other such accounts.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy learning about the companies that I audit. It is interesting to see within the company both in detail as well as see how this impacts into the wider picture. It is also great to work with team members around the world and from different backgrounds.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I am constantly learning new skills. As part of the apprenticeship, we study ICAEW and go to college to study this. As well as this qualification we also have inhouse training covering various aspects of the world of work. In addition to this we receive informal training with our senior members of staff on a day to day basis.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme is structured well. Before joining we were provided with a roadmap on how we are expected to progress throughout our time at work as well as at college.. The staff have been very helpful on any questions that I have and as well as my team members on my engagements.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Their are various avenues of support. There is the support of your peers as well as your team. In addition to this there is the support of the training provider as well as a dedicated apprenticeship coach and a counsellor for any work or personal related queries or concerns that I may have.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider at the moment has various avenues of support. There are dedicated mailboxes and phone numbers that can be used if we have questions on an exam or any concerns otherwise. There is also an apprenticeship coach at the provider who is there for your well being and safeguarding.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The ICAEW allows me to learn the technical aspect of my role well which enables me to understand my work which in turn means that I perform better and enjoy my work more as a result. This qualification is supplemented by internal training which helps to further reinforce my understanding.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are several activities to take part in. There are all types of sport clubs as well as all types of societies based on race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender amongst others. There are so many things to get involved in and the choice is completely left up to you.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because EY provides a great career boosting experience and invaluable experience that lasts a lifetime. The people that you meet are likeminded and have similar goals to you. Many of those you work with will end up holding high positions in the future. It is a great place to learn and network.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Do your research! Make sure to read all about the service lines and see what suits you best. Don't just follow the crowd and make sure you check various resources apart from the EY website. Next I would recommend to be yourself, EY inspires us to be ourselves at work so definitely don't be afraid to hide your true self.
