3.8/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Assisting executives with administrative type roles. Lots of on the job coaching and training. Drafting emails, completing trackers and generally helping seniors with anything required.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy the programme and feel it is a great introduction to work. It is particularly encouraging to see more senior members of staff that have also joined as school leavers and worked their way up through the firm.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Improved communication skills through interactions with various people, both internally and externally, with clients. I have significantly improved my Excel skills through continued use and guidance from seniors.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well structured. Day to day work is on projects learning on the job from colleagues. We have scheduled study periods too in order to complete exams for qualification. There is a lot of support from various angles, buddy systems, counsellors and team meetings with a focus on wellbeing.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
There is a lot of support from the company and encouragement to speak up about anything that I feel should be raised. There are various people to speak to, managers, buddies, HR etc. There is good communication between colleagues with the aim of providing support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Excellent level of support from the training provider. The classroom lessons, although virtual, are very useful in preparation for passing exams. Tutors are easy to understand and make themselves available to assist where necessary. There is lots of support available should we need it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Due to the nature of my work so far, the learning has not been directly applicable to my role. However, as I continue to learn for the qualification and broaden my experience of projects, the knowledge will become more useful and certainly be put into practice.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes - there are lots of social activities to get involved in, even in a virtual world! I have seen some examples of colleagues volunteering at food banks which is encouraged and we have an allocated number of days per year that can be taken off for voluntary work.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The people I have met have been very approachable and friendly. Although a professional environment, I feel relaxed and encouraged to be myself at work.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Be yourself. Prepare for interviews and assessment days but most importantly be yourself!
