Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a Trainee Associate and most of my day consists of working on different audit clients. I mainly do walkthroughs of client processes and basic accounting tasks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Although the job can be tricky especially with balancing my training and work load, it has been very good. It has been more difficult with joining virtually, but I have met many colleagues and clients which has been good.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have definitely improved my organisational and communication skills a lot as I have to set up and deliver numerous client meetings.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is very organised as we have a system in place which tells you what you are doing on a weekly basis. You are warned beforehand when you have studies or an exam in order to prepare.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
We have lots of different support staff. Each new joiner has a personal buddy and councillor. We then also have apprentice coaches who also help us through our qualification, so there is a lot of support at EY.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
As previously mentioned there is an Apprentice Coash who helps us through our qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I think that the work I do towards my qualification definitely has a direct impact on my work. Most of what we learn contributes to our overall understanding of accounting and assurance.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many office specific clubs. For the office I work at there are different sports clubs, a baking club, book club and many others. There are also monthly office socials. There are also numerous societies which you can join.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
A great place to get your qualification as its one of the top accounting firms worldwide. It can also give you lots of work experience which doing other qualifications might not give you.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Make sure, you are prepared to work hard as it can be very difficult doing both training and work, but also take the different opportunities available at EY.
