Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a checkout supervisor and my daily role includes setting up tills and self scans and all equipment ready for the trading day! During the day I observe and maintain the self scans and aid any colleagues on tills! I am the first point of contact for customer queries and help to give the best customer service that I possibly can
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme quite highly, it has allowed me to have a bigger insight into the world of retail and how my actions can affect the business and how I can improve myself and create targets and make plans of self development as well so I can be the most effective team member that i can be

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt new skills and been able to develop ones I know on this course! I have learned to work in different areas of the store and how every part is important to maintaining a successful business, I have also learned how to improve my customer service skills making sure I’m using them to help my business succeed

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme structure was very well organised and was shown to us from the induction of the apprenticeship. At the start we were shown a roadmap and each module would be taught and how we would complete the work and how we would be assessed at the end of the programme
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I reviewed an exceptional amount of support from my employer whilst completing the programme! My managers were very helpful in finding ways to complete the tasks I had been set and finding new ways to complete off job training tasks as well! Overall if I needed any help my employer was very happy to provide it
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I received an incredible amount of support from my training provider and the personal trainer that was assigned to me, I was able to contact them via mobile and email whenever I had a query or was in need of assistance for my apprenticeship! Overall the support given to me was excellent from the training provider
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification helps me to perform better in my role quite significantly! It has helped me to learn about all aspects of the job and other roles as well as my own and allows me to cover more areas of the store and have an appreciation for all of the jobs that my colleagues do
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
At work we don’t have too many extra curricular activities, however when we can, we plan charity events and also colleague get togethers. With charity events we try to get as many people involved as possible and currently there are 4 colleagues attempting to run 100k by the end of March

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend The Co-op to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend Co-op to a friend because they value their colleagues and let them speak their opinions and help to make the business as best as possible! It also raises money for local causes which most businesses don’t do! Working for them is always a pleasure and I’m always happy to come into work
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The Co-op?
I would say be yourself and work hard and the Co-op will reward you for working hard and being a team player. Make sure you make your strengths known and that you work well with other people as most co-ops tend to be small stores! As long as you help with the team you’ll be in a pleasant environment
