Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
1/5
Moving and transporting freight and getting them ready for delivery or getting them built into a pallet or aircraft unit so its safe for it to fly. Super repetitive job.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
The best part of this apprenticeship was meeting new people and their different backgrounds.
However the job in general is very basic and doesn’t provide a challenge which makes it very boring quickly.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
1/5
We get the chance to acquire a forklift license, which we can use in different organisations. However the apprenticeship is very linear and learning new skills is very rare.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Overall the support provided by seetec was good and they always listened to whenever problem we had and helped solve the problems we have.
However the organisation(British Airways) itself, had dreadful communication with us apprentices and often made arrangements to only change them with less than 24hr notice.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
I felt the support we received from our employer was pretty much non existent after our first couple of months. However some managers were quite friendly and approachable but others no so much and often felt intimidating.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The support from seetec was very good and our appointed tutor was probably the best thing about this apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The training provided by the provider was good and provided a great base line to understand your role within the organisation.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
There was no extra-curricular activities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend British Airways to a friend?
No
Why?
Although the perks are great at British Airways, it does not out-way the negatives. There also was a negative attitude towards apprentices by mainly the older staff in the organisation.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
I would recommend having an open mind and asking yourself if this is really the career choice you want to follow
