Overall Rating
3.6 /5
The Overall Rating is the average of all the ratings given in each category. We take those individual ratings and combine them into one final score!
Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
I basically run the shop's daily operations on my shifts.
I set out what needs to be done, and make sure all legal requirements are met, as well as lead the team on my shifts.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
Though it is a bit harder to manage it all during a pandemic when everything is done online via distance.
Takes a bit more discipline this way.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Anything else would be an enormous waste of time and money.
THe legal basics of managing a store and also finer minutiae of leadership in a retail environment.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
How much support do you receive from your employer?
Sadly my Store Manager is stressed for any time, seeing as we are under staffed, and keep getting our hours cut by Coop, getting almost 200 hours less than equivalent or smaller stores per week. (as I've been told during the apprenticeship when we compare notes, so true figures)
The mother company cares zilch for individual colleagues or stores unless it's a "store of excellence" which they use to brag.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
I haven't asked for more, so can't say I don't get enough, really...
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
Would be a moot point to do all this otherwise.
Not quite in a position to say. A lot left to go...
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
But they DO offer things centrally, for us to do by our own volition...
Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend The Co-op to a friend?
Why?
We get £15k.
If we're lucky.
Lots of extra work to do to keep everyone safe during a pandemic, but NO extra hours to do so. Instead they CUT our hours...
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The Co-op?
Or make sure it's a temporary job.
Unless you really love retail, or it's your one way of getting a career.
Then Coop is the best way I guess, they really DO offer a great career path...
