Asset Management Summer Analyst Review

I was part of the AM COO Business Management team. As part of the team, I was placed on a variety of projects and was even given the opportunity to take responsibility for an important piece of work regarding the control environment. Much of the role involves analysis on excel and creating PowerPoint presentations as well as other documents. I would also attend many skype meetings with team members and different AM functions. I would also help and reach out to team members to support their work.

Yes. One of my colleagues wasn't feeling well so I took responsibility for delivering that particular project. This project was important as it looked at the control environment of AM COO to ensure that all the controls are designed and operating effectively. I worked on the entire project myself but received tips and help along the way from my colleagues.

I have developed my Excel, PowerPoint and general Microsoft office skills. I have also improved my ability to present and communicate effectively with different audiences. I have also started learning a new coding language called Alteryx as part of the internship. I have learnt a lot about a professional environment in general such as rules on compliance. I have also learnt many terms and business details that I didn't know before.

I received an incredible amount of support and guidance. My line manager was always there when I needed any help or advice, despite how busy he was. It wasn't just my line manager but everyone I reached out to was also super helpful, from the recruitment team to my fellow interns. My fellow team members were also an amazing support and I felt that I could ask any question I wanted. I felt incredibly well supported throughout my 9 week internship.

It was so much better than I could have imagined. Before starting I thought it would be overly competitive. However, although cliché, it was nothing like that. Every is definitely driven but there is an amazing collegiate feeling where everyone supports each other. Going into the office for the first time was the best experience. Everyone was so friendly and in general the vibes were just great. There are so many networks as well so I feel like everyone is welcome and accepted at UBS.

I will put it quite simply. It was the best experience of my life. Despite covid and the lock down environment, UBS still managed to put together, in my opinion, the best Asset Management summer internship in the UK!
