Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Programming, helping deliver projects with fellow employees and working together to learn and develop skillset.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love it. Couldn't ask for a better support network and I feel like I thrive in the workplace. I have learnt so much since joining and cannot wait to learn more.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Many many skills. Communication, programming, business skills and general understanding of the workplace and computer science functions.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well organised. Support network in the workplace is amazing and if you ever have any concerns there are many people you can go to- university and work-wise.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
So much. An amazing community of workers who are so willing to help you learn. You are appointed several official helpers and on top of that everyone I have asked for help so far has spent time helping me. The workplace here is incredibly friendly and supportive.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Being virtual so far, I personally find it more difficult than if I was to go into university, thankfully, QMUL has appointed support mentors for the apprentices and there are general support / advisors you can go to as well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
In a way, I feel that they both benefit each other. It is helpful to learn something at university and then apply your knowledge in the workplace. And learning something in the workplace will help you if you haven't necessarily learnt it at university yet.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there are, even virtually. Usually there are more when we aren't in lockdown but I have even recently done a cooking class with a professional chef!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Goldman Sachs Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I love it there. I genuinely don't think there are any faults and you definitely feel like you are a part of GS and the university. It is such an amazing opportunity and I am proud to be involved in it.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Goldman Sachs Group?
Be yourself! Goldman loves individuality and how much you have programmed etc is not the be all and end all. I joined this apprenticeship with little to no experience in programming and I do not feel at a disadvantage at all in comparison to my peers. Don't be afraid to ask questions and be confident in yourself !
